In this role, I partnered with hiring managers to post positions, source, screen, hire and on-board internal and external candidates in a 24x7x365 manufacturing environment, supporting primarily the Electronics Engineering and Supply-Based disciplines.
In this role, initially on an adjunct basis, and later as a full time consultant, I worked with organizations to guide recently notified or released employees through the career transition process. I managed various career centers in southern Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut, as well as provided individual and group coaching in the Boston service office.
As the Senior Consultant in the Boston, MA office, I provide career coaching to business professionals currently going through career transition. I partner with them to develop and implement a customized plan to unleash their potential and achieve more than they imagined.
Be authentic. It's certainly important to be prepared, do the research, know how your skills align with the position requirements and all those other things every career coach will tell you. At the end of the day, people want to like the person they work with.Â
Hands down, facilitating in-office seminars. I enjoy delivering virtual webinars and find individual coaching sessions rewarding, but connecting with a group, seeing the light come on, and having some fun while we're at it? Can't be beat.
While I would love to say it was a very strategic move on my part, I can't. I was networking after being impacted by a reduction in force (if anyone can relate) and met with a senior leader at Right Management. While there wasn't an existing opening, yes, the hidden job market does exist, she thought my background would be an interesting fit for an upcoming project, though only on a part-time basis. Fast forward 14+ years, and here I am....and still loving it.
